TikTok Views Dropped: Check Eligibility, Account Status and Analytics

If your TikTok views suddenly fell, first check who can see the affected post. Then open its analytics for a For You eligibility notice, check your Inbox or profile for an account recommendation notice, and review Account check. If TikTok shows no decision, compare similar posts at the same age in your own analytics. A low count, including 0 or 200 views, does not establish a “shadowban,” and an outside checker cannot see TikTok's internal account status.

Start with what actually changed

Creators describing a “shadowban” may mean one post at zero views, several posts getting less For You traffic, or a missing Story or Promote control. Those are different observations. TikTok documents account-level recommendation limits and post-level For You ineligibility, but the view graph alone cannot identify either decision.

Match the symptom to the first useful check

A Story or Promote action is unavailableRecord the exact feature and error; check the relevant in-app notice and that feature's settings. That TikTok made every post ineligible for For You.

A private or limited-audience post has a different possible audience from a public post. TikTok's post privacy guide distinguishes Everyone, Friends, Followers and Only you, depending on account type. Confirm the actual setting before you interpret the count. A friend being able to open a link confirms access for that person; it does not test every viewer or the For You feed.

Three TikTok checks, in the right order

Follow the evidence from one post to the whole account
  1. 01Post visibilityWho can open this post?
  2. 02Post eligibilityIs there a For You decision in its analytics?
  3. 03Account signalsIs there an Inbox or profile notice, or an Account check warning?

Each result answers a different question. A clear check is useful, but it is not a promise of reach.

1. Check the affected post's audience and decision

Open the original post and its More options (…) → Privacy settings. Confirm the intended audience. If it is under review or was removed, look for TikTok's notification before changing or reposting it. TikTok says a post can be reviewed at upload, after gaining popularity or after a report. Its content moderation guide describes the route to a For You decision:

  1. Open the affected post in your account.
  2. Tap More insights, or More options (…) → Analytics.
  3. If there is an ineligibility notification, open it and read the reason.
  4. Use Appeal if you believe the decision is mistaken.

Analytics may need to be enabled in TikTok Studio before the decision is available. Preserve the notice and relevant post details. A post-level decision is evidence about that post; it does not mean every other post is affected. Deleting a post does not remove strikes, and TikTok warns that deleted content may not be restored following an appeal.

2. Read any account recommendation notice

TikTok says an account repeatedly posting content unsuitable for For You may become ineligible for recommendation and harder to find in search. In that case its account recommendation guide says it will notify the creator in Inbox and on the profile, identify the affected content, and offer an appeal. Open the notice and review the listed posts. If you disagree, follow the notice's appeal route. TikTok says it may restore an account's standing automatically; its guidance gives no universal recovery time.

3. Review Account check separately

For Account check, open Profile → Menu (☰) → TikTok Studio → More tools → Account check. Another documented route is Settings and privacy → Support → Safety Center → Account check. TikTok describes a checkmark when it finds no issue and a warning sign when it does. The screen covers functions including posting, comments, profile editing, messages and login. Follow the specific warning rather than treating this screen as a view-count forecast. A clean result does not prove that every post is eligible or that a particular post will receive recommendations.

If TikTok shows no notice, make a fair comparison

Write down the actual pattern before naming a cause. Choose three to five posts with a similar topic, purpose and duration. Compare each at the same age after publication, such as its first 48 hours. Note its audience setting, whether it was boosted, the traffic sources available in TikTok Studio, and any change in language, format or opening. This is an editorial investigation method, not a TikTok threshold. Our analytics guide explains what the metrics can and cannot answer.

A view drop that needs one more check

Imagine three public tutorials on the same subject had 920, 1,040 and 1,110 views at 48 hours. Their median is 1,040. A new tutorial with 90 views after two hours cannot be compared with that baseline yet. If it has 230 views after 48 hours, the drop is real relative to this small sample, but its cause is still unknown.

Now inspect its audience, any eligibility notice, and its own traffic and viewing data. If a notice names a reason, follow that decision. If there is no notice, write two plausible explanations to test, such as a different audience or an opening that delays the promised answer. Do not infer an internal penalty from the difference alone.

Even 0% For You traffic needs context: how many total views underlie the percentage, how old is the post, and does TikTok show an eligibility decision? Search and hashtag results are personalized and incomplete. TikTok publishes no universal “0–2% For You” or “200 views” shadowban cutoff. To understand how For You and Search differ, read our recommendation guide.

Turn your observations into next steps

The checklist below asks about official notices, comparable posts and whether another viewer can open the link. Select Not checked yet when you do not know. It organizes your next checks locally on this page; it cannot inspect TikTok, calculate a restriction probability or reverse a moderation decision.

Reach Troubleshooting Checklist

A view drop alone cannot diagnose a shadowban. Use your own TikTok notices and analytics to decide what to check next. This checklist does not inspect your account, assign a probability, or detect a penalty.

Choose the observations you have checked. Unknown is a useful answer.

No notice does not prove that every post is eligible. Search results and view counts can vary for many reasons. Save the date, affected post links, exact notices, and traffic-source figures so you can compare evidence or make an appeal.

Use the right appeal or support route

If TikTok shows a post ineligibility decision, appeal from that post's analytics notice. If the account has an ineligible-for-recommendation notice, appeal from its Inbox or profile notice. Save the exact reason, affected links and date first. TikTok says deleting content does not remove strikes, and deleted content may not be restored after an appeal. Deleting and reposting also removes the original result you were trying to inspect.

If a feature fails or a post remains inaccessible without a clear notice, use TikTok's in-app Report a problem flow. Include:

This site's public tools cannot inspect private strikes, creator analytics or TikTok's recommendation decisions. Clearing a cache, waiting a fixed number of days, buying a checker result or posting a particular format has no documented guarantee of restoring reach.

Questions creators ask after a view drop

How long does a TikTok “shadowban” last?

There is no single duration to promise from a view count. Read the actual TikTok notice, if one exists, and use its appeal path when you disagree. For account recommendation ineligibility, TikTok says standing may be restored automatically or through an appeal; the timing depends on the case.

Should I delete and repost a video with zero views?

Check the audience, review state and analytics notice first. Deletion will not clear strikes, and it removes the original post you could inspect or appeal. If the issue is an upload or playback error, record the error before trying the platform's troubleshooting flow.

Does a clean Account check mean the video should appear in For You?

No. Account check reports the issues TikTok lists there; post eligibility is checked on the post. An eligible post is still ranked for individual viewers, so eligibility is not a guaranteed audience size.

Source boundary: The menu paths, eligibility notices, appeals and Account check behavior above come from the linked TikTok Help Center pages. The symptom table, comparison example and checklist are editorial ways to organize evidence, not tests of TikTok's internal ranking or moderation systems. Menu labels and available features can vary by account, age, region and app version.
