Does TikTok Notify People When You View Their Profile?
The short answer: Usually no, but under specific conditions, yes. TikTok does not send push notifications when someone visits a profile, but it does have an opt-in "Profile View History" feature that can reveal your visit.
How TikTok's Profile View History works
TikTok introduced an optional feature called Profile View History. When active, creators can see a list of accounts that looked at their profile over the previous 30 days. However, this feature comes with strict conditions:
- Both accounts must opt in: You will only appear on someone's viewer list if both you and the profile owner have turned on Profile View History in your TikTok privacy settings.
- If either of you has it turned off: Your view is completely invisible. The other person will not see your name, and you will not see who viewed yours.
- Account restrictions apply: The feature is only available to users who are 16 or older and have fewer than 5,000 followers. High-volume and celebrity accounts do not have access to individual viewer lists.

What about watching TikTok videos vs. stories?
Different types of content have different visibility rules on TikTok:
- Regular videos: TikTok only counts the total number of views (e.g., 10k views). Creators cannot see a list of specific individuals who watched their regular video feed.
- TikTok Stories: Similar to Instagram Stories, TikTok Stories show the creator a list of viewers who watched their story if they viewed it while signed into a TikTok account.
- Live Streams: Entering a TikTok LIVE stream announces your username to the host and fellow viewers.

How to browse TikTok completely anonymously
If you want to view a profile or check public videos without leaving any footprint, you have three options:
1. Turn off Profile View History in your TikTok app
Go to your Profile → Settings and Privacy → Privacy → Profile views, and toggle the setting Off. This immediately removes you from everyone else's view history (and hides yours as well).
2. Sign out of your TikTok account
Browsing in an Incognito window without being logged in means your view cannot be associated with any user handle. However, TikTok frequently interrupts guest browsing with sign-in prompts and app download popups.
3. Use ViewTikStory
With ViewTikStory, you don't need a TikTok account, app installation, or login. Our server fetches public profile information and recent videos on your behalf. Because your personal account is never involved and requests originate from our server, there is zero record of your visit.
